Ms. Shaw believes that preparation is the key to success in the courtroom. Since the beginning of her career, Ms. Shaw has achieved successful results for her clients in hundreds of cases. She recognizes that care and attention to detail are integral to the attorney-client relationship and securing the best possible outcomes in court.
Ms. Shaw is known for exploiting every hole in the government’s case to get top results for her clients. Her social work background allows her to give a holistic approach that ensures all of her clients are advised on every aspect of their case and how to mitigate the consequences of having a criminal charge.
Brianna has spent significant time on both sides of the criminal legal system. This provides her with in-depth knowledge of the intricacies of cases as simple as misdemeanors and as complex as homicide. Ms. Shaw brings that knowledge to the firm to provide each client with a depth of understanding of the court process. She does not hesitate to hold prosecutors to their burden of proving all charges beyond a reasonable doubt.
Before joining the firm, Ms. Shaw was an associate at a local law firm handling assault and premises liability cases. Prior to her stint in civil practice, Ms. Shaw was a staff attorney with the Defender Association of Philadelphia, where she handled a diverse caseload of misdemeanor and felony matters. Her top-tier trial advocacy skills make her one of the area’s best legal advocates.
In addition to Criminal Law, Ms. Shaw’s area of concentration includes Family Law and Election Law. Ms. Shaw has secured favorable outcomes for her clients in child support, child custody, and adoption matters. She has also represented progressive candidates running for local and state legislative offices.
Ms. Shaw was born in Newark, NJ. Her passion for courtroom advocacy started as early as her adolescent years. Ms. Shaw broke into the legal field by teaching and training foster youth on their legal rights within the dependency system. She then became certified as a Guardian Ad Litem representing the best interests of foster youth in the Essex County Superior Court in New Jersey.
Brianna also worked at the Rutgers Child Advocacy Clinic where she worked on “Know Your Rights” campaigns for foster youth throughout New Jersey. Ms. Shaw received her BSW from Rutgers University-New Brunswick, and her social work background has guided her career as an advocate for her clients.
Ms. Shaw received her J.D. from Temple University Beasley School of Law in 2019 and was no stranger to success during her law school career. Brianna was a member of Temple University Beasley School of Law’s prestigious National Trial Team which is recognized as one of the top trial training programs in the country. She was also a member of the Jessup International Moot Court Team where she honed her appellate oral advocacy skills. Ms. Shaw served as a certified legal intern with the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office where she sat second chair in murder trials and litigated misdemeanor cases to verdict in Philadelphia Municipal Court. She also served as trial support at the Camden area office of the New Jersey Office of the Public Defender.
She continued her legal experience at the Temple Family Law Litigation Clinic where she provided pro bono representation for child custody, support, and adoption proceedings. Building her trial experience in these organizations led to her being awarded the Andrew Gay Award, a coveted trial advocacy honor at Temple Law that is reserved for individuals who have excelled in trial advocacy in the area of criminal law.
